Timeline of events

1. 16 June 2012: John and Pieter meet for the first time
2. 7 July 2012: John and Pieter meet for the second time
3. 8 July 2012: John tells Pieter he would like to donate his kidney to him
4. 30 July 2012: John's first round of tests (blood type, chest X-ray and kidney ultrasound)
5. 31 July 2012: Receive confirmation that John and Pieter are an exact blood type match
6. 8 August 2012: John's second round of tests (crossmatch, tissue and ECG)
7. 16 August 2012: Receive confirmation that John and Pieter have a negative crossmatch result, meaning Pieter's body will not reject John's kidney
8. 21 August 2012: John's kidney function test
9. 28 August 2012: Receive confirmation that John's kidneys function at 84%
10. 20 September 2012: Both couples meet with the Nephrologist to discuss all test results
11. 28 September 2012: Meeting with surgeons and Human Tissue Authority
12.  8 October 2012: HTA approved the transplant
13. 12 November 2012: Last set of blood tests before the operation
14. 25 November 2012: Pieter admitted to hospital
15. 26 November 2012: John admitted to hospital
16. 27 November 2012: Kidney transplant operation!
17. 1 December 2012: John discharged
18. 4 December 2012: Pieter discharged
